Our school workshops help pupils gain an understanding of Britain’s past through exciting and stimulating activities. With a strong focus on local area studies, children can learn how the past has shaped our lives today and how through this process of change our local identity has developed.

Pricing

A standard 2 hour half day workshop is £4.50 per child. A full day workshop is £7 per child.

The Pre-history full day workshop is £8 per child to cover the cost of additional resources.

Littleport Riots workshop holds an additional charge of £50 for the hire of the Courthouse.

A River Cruise can be arranged as part of our River Workshop at an additional charge of £3.50 per person, including adults

Risk Assessments

Our range of risk assessments are available for you to download in advance of your visit. These risk assessments cover all our workshops and museum visits. We advise schools to also complete their own risk assessment.

Pre Visits

Teachers are welcome to visit the museum, free of charge, prior to their booked workshop. Pre-visits can be carried our Tuesday to Saturday 10:30am – 5pm or Sunday 12pm – 5pm. Please contact our Learning Officer on learning@elymuseum.org.uk to arrange a visit.

Health and Safety

The behaviour of the pupils remains the responsibility of the school or your organisation at all times. Please bring sufficient adults to supervise and support pupils when they are working in small group workshops. Children must not be left unsupervised at any time.

Photographs

You are welcome to take photographs during the session, however, we ask that you check with our volunteers before taking photographs when you are in small group workshops.  We may, on occasion, ask to take photographs during your session for marketing purposes.

First Aid

We require your school to provide a designated first aider to accompany your visit and to be the first point of contact. We suggest you bring necessary first aid equipment with you, however, if needed we have first aid boxes in the museum and a first aider on sight who may provide additional support as required.

Lunch Space

Lunches can be eaten in our main education room or our courtyard (weather permitting) and depending on numbers of children. Please contact the Learning Officer to discuss lunch arrangements. Food and drink cannot be taken around the museum galleries.

Coats and Bags

There is room for coats and bags in our main education room and in our entrance. However space is limited and we recommend students and teachers only bring what is necessary.

Toilets

Ely Museum has 4 toilets (2 on each floor)  a disabled toilet is available on the ground floor.

Access

Ely Museum is fully wheelchair accessible with a lift for access to the first floor.
