Overview:

Spending time down at the river Great Ouse in Ely, children will complete a river dipping exercise learning how to stay safe near the water, collect samples scientifically and identify creatures. They will also learn about the history and importance of the river to Ely in the past, complete a river survey and take a mapped walk along the tow path to discover more about how the river is used today .

We start our 2 hour session down by the river where we have a short introduction to the workshop. We then split into 3 groups and complete a rotation of activities.

Please note that all activities are outside and there is no shelter. The session will go ahead in all but the most extreme weather conditions, therefore please encourage pupils to dress appropriately, you may need wellies and raincoats, sunhat and sun cream!

The River Workshop runs from the start of the Summer Term until October half term.

Coach pick up is available near the Maltings.
