Overview:
In the morning the children discover the background to the Littleport Riots and encounter some of the characters involved. They take on a role – a magistrate, a rioter, a citizen of Ely – and consider their involvement and motivation. Moving to the Georgian courtroom, they take part in a re-enactment of the trial and learn the fate of the rioters. In the afternoon they divide into three groups, looking at replicas of original documents, thinking about gaol conditions, and exploring the museum.
