Tales from Edwardian Britain
Tuesday 12th August 7pm
A talk by Alwyn Turner.
Alwyn Turner will talk about a world not so very different to our own, dominated by tariffs and terrorists, with disputes over immigration and fears that children were glued to their screens. Expect plenty of Suffragettes, Peaky Blinders and the Music Hall.
Alwyn W Turner is a London-based writer of non-fiction whose work covers a diverse range of interests, from pulp fiction to politics, fashion to film, rock and roll to military bands. Running through it all is a fascination with the cultural and political history of Britain in the Twentieth Century.
His work has been widely and enthusiastically reviewed, and has appeared in Books of the Year lists in the Sunday Times, the Observer, the New Statesman and the Spectator, and as Books of the Month in BBC History magazine and Publishing News.
Copies of Alwyn Turner’s fascinating book ‘Little Englanders: Britain in the Edwardian Era’ will be available for sale in the museum shop and there will be an opportunity to get them signed at the talk.
