Leaving a gift in your Will

Help us safeguard the future of the museum and its collections by leaving a Gift in your Will to Ely Museum.

As an independent Museum and a charity we rely on the kindness of our visitors and supporters to open our doors and share the unique history of the Isle of Ely and the people who lived here. Leaving a gift to the Museum in your Will, after you have taken care of your family and loved ones, no matter the size, will help us to inspire future generations.

For more information about how to leave a gift in your will see the pdf on this page or email us on admin@elymuseum.org.uk. We can send you our Legacy leaflet and would be very happy to have a confidential chat about leaving a gift in your Will to Ely Museum.

Donating an object to the museum

If you are interested in donating an object to Ely Museum, please read the information below to see if it fits within our Collecting Policy. If it does, then please contact the Curator to discuss. Thank you.

Ely Museum collects items to expand and augment the current collections, following the aims of our Mission Statement and Forward Plan.

Area: The catchment area of Ely Museum is that covered by East Cambridgeshire District Council.

When taking objects into the collection the museum must consider whether it has sufficient space to house the item, any conservation requirements, provenance and copyright.

Items will be accepted into the collections only by agreement of the Trustees, taking into account advice from the Curator, according to the Collections Development Policy. See PDF below.
