With our redevelopment continuing full steam ahead, our thoughts have turned to our fantastic new shop area!
We are are excited about the new possibilities for the shop and what we might stock in it when we reopen. With that in mind some of our team ventured to Olympia London to visit the Top Drawer trade show for some inspiration.
Olympia London has been hosting great shows since 1886 and Top Drawer is no exception. The venue has great space which is beautifully curated, showcasing a mixture of products and up coming designers. The show also highlights crafts, environmentally friendly products and all with a great creative ethos.
With a vague agenda for the shop and a free reign of possibilities, We set out early by train to navigate our way to this London landmark. Thoroughly discussing some of the key interests for new ranges on the journey, we started to explore the many exhibits that were on offer.
With hundreds of professional suppliers we decided to concentrate our efforts on exploring the gifts and card section of the show. We were on the look out for any ranges with an botanical, wildlife and the country side theme, as well new exciting suppliers for our bespoke range. After a full day on our feet and bags full of catalogs we returned with wealth of information and ideas for the future shop.
Not having any existing stock or even any shelving yet has allowed us to explore the show with an open mind as to the new and exciting things we could offer. Now we’re all back in the office, we’re beginning to sort through the details for all the new possible suppliers we collected and the beautiful products they sell!
With our experience of Top Drawer fresh in our minds, all of us at the museum plan to go to the Spring Fair in Birmingham in early February.
