Living History days, finds identification afternoons, a programme of talks and many children's activities are just some of the fun activities and events that are held throughout the year.

Bronze Age Braids

The chance to see and handle various forms of woad and ancient braiding and weaving. Also try out some ancient braiding techniques to try such as simple flat braids. Free workshop.

Ely Museum Community Workshop – The Horseman's Word

A Heritage Lottery Funded Project researching the Golden age of the Heavy Horse.

A chance to meet our project historian and a heavy horse expert. Be entertained with songs and stories of the Fenland Horseman. We need your stories, memories and photographs.

So whether your interest is in history, Fenland culture, horses or you simply have a great story to share - we would love to see you there.

Be part of this exciting horse heritage exhibition & archive. A chance to take part in the making of the film. Booking advised.

Children's Activities and Crafts

1st – Fen characters and boat making Make a paper or card lighter and simple figure or character and then decorate with lots of fun art. Also learn about some different Fen characters and what their lives would entail.

8th, 15th 22nd – Children's crafts and activities – more details to follow

29th – Furry Fun Day! Woodgreen are returning to Ely Museum and bringing some of their small furry friends. There will be pet toy making and answering any questions you may have about your pets.

£1.00 per child – drop in session between 11am & 3pm – no need top book.

Visitors can learn about creatures that have inhabited the Fenland area in the past and make/decorate one of their own to take home.
