Ædwen’s Brooch: The mystery of Sutton’s Silver

An exciting exhibition featuring the Sutton Anglo Saxon brooch on loan from the British Museum.

Autumn Fruits Craft Morning

Come and celebrate autumn fruits in this children's craft workshop.

Suitable for children aged 5-11

Tickets are £3 per participating child and booking in advance is recommended to avoid disappointment. Tickets will not be available on the day. Please call the museum on 01353 666655 or email to book.

First World War Family History Day

The Cambs Regt 1914-18 Website Team will be holding a First World War Family History Day on Saturday 7th November 2015 at Ely Museum. This free event is being put on with the support of Ely Museum, The Hunts Cyclist Battalion Website, Skylark Battlefield Tours, and local Western Front Association members.

The Cambs Regt Team will be on hand alongside experts on The Hunts Cyclists, The Suffolk Regiment, and The Northamptonshire Regiment. There will be a display of photos and medals to local men from the Ely area and Cambridgeshire Regiment (many of which have never been on public display before), a display of equipment and uniforms as well as a team of experts who can help with researching your relatives who served in the Great War. Specialist in WW1 Militaria and Medals will also be happy to assist with the identification of any items or pictures you may have.

So if you have an interest in local First World War history, are looking to find out about your relatives, or have any WW1 photos or items that you would like to find out more about we hope you will come along and see us.

The event is being held in the Vernon Cross Meeting Room at Ely Museum from 11:00 till 16:00 on Saturday 7th November 2015.

Come and see Father Christmas in his Victorian Parlour!

That's the invitation from Ely Museum to children everywhere.

Every child visiting Father Christmas will receive a present and there will also be the chance for them to enjoy some traditional Christmas crafts.

It promises to be a fun day for the whole family. Parents and grandparents, will find stocking fillers for all ages in our museum shop and there will be a tombola, a second-hand book stall and refreshments.

Entrance to Ely Museum on the day will be FREE for everyone. There will be a charge of £3 for children wishing to visit Father Christmas who will be in his parlour at:

  • Saturday: 10.30am to 12.30pm
  • Saturday: 1:00pm to 3:00pm
  • Sunday:1:00pm to 3.30pm
